Hi, I’m Ann – Ann E The RD -- Welcome to my blog!
I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian and founder of Pediatric Nutrition Therapy, a private practice which specializes in childhood nutrition. As a wife and new mom-to-be (our little peanut is arriving in August), my vision is to help busy moms (and dad’s) navigate through the overwhelming food and beverage industry.
Using my credibility and expertise in nutrition, I will be providing daily Instagram reviews on food products and weekly recaps on the blog! My goal is to provide education on nutritious, delicious, affordable, and realistic food market selections to best fuel your family, promoting a healthy way of life.
Have ever found yourself cruising the aisles of Target with your kids begging you to buy the bright colored cereal with the “free toy” inside? In that moment if you have thought to yourself “Is this a healthy choice?! –if this sounds like you, then momma, you are in the EXACT right spot! I can’t wait to provide you with some simple guidance, as little changes can make a BIG difference in your child’s health!
Now, let’s set the record straight before we dive in…many nutrition bloggers out there provide intricate meal plans, perfectly photographed recipe concoctions, or use “superfoods” that can only be found in a land far away…. just a heads up, this blog does none of the above. Not only am I not fond of writing at length, I know first-hand how busy families are in today’s society which is why I aim at providing a quick synopsis review of each featured product. I will discuss the top nutritional benefits, where the product can be found, and why it would be a recommended choice by a dietitian.
Most parents are aware that fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats are healthy for your little ones….am I right? This blog skips over those items (however make sure they are included in your grocery cart week-to-week as they provide much needed nutritional benefits) however, I will specifically be focusing on packaged items out on the market (as they are ever changing and appealing to consumers via the latest food trends) to help fill the education gap for everyday consumers on what healthy foods truly ARE., not just what companies want you to believe.
The featured products I discuss are items that I personally stand behind with confidence. These brands align with my health and nutrition philosophies (balance, moderation, enjoyment and positivity) as a dietitian, mom, and consumer. I am here to help you understand which food products can positively impact you and your child’s health, growth and well being, with an emphasis that all foods fit!
A little more about me: I am a Minnesota gal, Iowa State Alumni (Go Cyclones!), Bernese Mountain Dog momma, and avid breakfast food eater at all times of the day. I love hiking, skiing and snowboarding and running! I have a huge passion for helping others and fueling health via realistic nutrition expectations.
